Our team consists of Certified Nurse Midwives, certified through the American College of Nurse Midwives. The midwives practice collaboratively with American College of Obstretics and Gynecology board certified physicians, to provide you with the highest quality of care during your pregnancy and birth of your child. Our philosophy guides us to help you achieve the birth that you envision for yourself. We are all members of the staff at WomanCare, Kentuckiana’s premiere OB/GYN practice, with one of the regions lowest cesarean section rates, and a longstanding commitment to providing extraordinary care before, during and after delivery, as well as providing well-woman care, preconception counseling, contraceptive management, and GYN problem visits.

Elizabeth Bary Quinkert
MSN, APRN, CNM
Elizabeth Bary Quinkert is a cornerstone of the midwifery community, bringing the wisdom and heart of a 29-year career dedicated to the art of birth and family wellness. As the visionary founder of WomanCare Midwifery Service and co-founder of the Tree of Life Family Birth Center, she has been instrumental in expanding birth options for families across the region. Having personally welcomed over 4,500 babies into the world, Elizabeth now focuses her professional energy on mentoring the next generation of midwives and advocating for legislative changes that ensure inclusive access to evidence-based care. A proud University of Kentucky graduate and former Army Nurse, her commitment to service is woven into everything she does. Elizabeth finds her greatest fulfillment in her own large, loving family, including her husband, four daughters, and thirteen grandchildren. When she isn’t at the birth center, she can be found gardening, cooking, or enjoying the soulful sounds of a bluegrass festival.

Alison Reid

Jennifer Hayes
MSN, APRN, CNM
Jennifer is a board-certified midwife specializing in full-spectrum women’s health and obstetric care. She earned her nursing degree from Indiana University Southeast and her Master’s in Nurse-Midwifery from the University of Indianapolis. Before joining WomanCare, she served in labor and delivery at Norton Clark Hospital. She also brings vital experience in caring for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence with profound compassion. Jennifer is passionate about providing evidence-based care that empowers patients through every stage of life—from adolescence through menopause. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys the simple joys of spending time outdoors with her family and listening to live music.

Rebekah Shirrell
MSN, APRN, CNM
Rebekah is a passionate advocate for physiological birth and inclusive wellness. As a midwife, she provides a warm and professional environment for natural childbirth, prenatal care, and routine gynecologic health. Her diverse clinical background spans years of service in labor and delivery, high-risk OB case management, and academic instruction at Bellarmine University. Rebekah earned her degrees from Bellarmine University and the University of Cincinnati. A member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, she is dedicated to partnering with families of all backgrounds to help them achieve their unique health and birth goals with the utmost dignity and respect.

Jamie Stefanski
MSN, APRN, CNM
Jamie takes immense pride in providing high-quality, evidence-based care throughout every stage of life. With a background in both labor and delivery and critical care, she brings a wealth of clinical expertise to her midwifery practice. Jamie earned her Master’s in Midwifery from the University of Cincinnati and previously served families with the TriHealth Nurse Midwives. She is a staunch advocate for diversity and inclusivity, striving to create a therapeutic, professional partnership with every patient. As a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, Jamie is committed to fostering a heartwarming environment where all families feel empowered to reach their wellness goals. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors.

Sarah Cubbage
MSN, APRN, CNM
Sarah is a passionate advocate for women’s care who finds deep meaning in witnessing the miracle of new families being born. Whether she is coaching a patient through their birth goals or providing holistic prenatal care, her approach is always rooted in warmth and professional respect. Sarah provides a wide range of services, including routine exams, gestational diabetes education, and support for natural childbirth. She earned her Master’s from Frontier Nursing University after gaining years of invaluable experience at Clark Memorial Hospital and the Tree of Life Family Birth Center. A member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, Sarah is dedicated to empowering every individual on their unique journey.

Angela Kinder
MSN, APRN, CNM, IBCLC
Angela brings nearly three decades of clinical experience and a heart for service to her role as a midwife. As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, she also offers expert, compassionate support for the breastfeeding journey. Angela has served in women’s healthcare since 1995, with deep expertise in labor and delivery, postpartum care, and newborn nursery services. She earned her advanced midwifery degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2022. Angela is dedicated to providing inclusive, high-quality care that honors the diverse needs of all women and families throughout their lives with professional warmth.

Andrea Nikodim
MSN, APRN, CNM
Andrea provides compassionate midwifery care informed by a diverse background in women’s health, neonatal intensive care, and family practice. A graduate of Frontier Nursing University, she also serves as a combat medic in the Army National Guard, bringing that same dedication to her patients. Deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment, Andrea approaches every clinical encounter with professional energy and empowerment. When she isn’t supporting new parents, she loves reading, traveling, and playing ice hockey. Andrea cherishes time at home with her husband, Erik, and their three beloved dogs.

Emily Wheeler

Emily is a warm and welcoming midwife who is passionate about supporting individuals through pregnancy, birth, and all stages of life. A graduate of Frontier Nursing University, she provides full-scope midwifery care across both hospital and birth center settings. Emily specializes in routine gynecologic wellness, prenatal and postpartum care, and assisting in surgical births. She strives to create an environment where every person feels heard, respected, and empowered. Emily is honored to partner with families of all backgrounds, ensuring they feel confident and supported throughout every step of their healthcare journey.

Ana Valdes Bencomo
MSN, APRN, CNM
Ana is a dedicated midwife who finds deep fulfillment in providing compassionate, inclusive care to families throughout every stage of life. A graduate of the University of Louisville and Frontier Nursing University, Ana brings a wealth of knowledge and heart to her practice. She previously served for five years as a labor and delivery nurse and has shared her expertise as adjunct clinical faculty. As a fluent Spanish speaker, Ana is deeply committed to ensuring all individuals feel seen, heard, and supported in their unique healthcare journey. When not in the birth center, she loves discovering new places and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Melissa Yannetti
Physician, DO
Dr. Yannetti is a dedicated OB/GYN attending physician providing compassionate, full- spectrum care to women through every stage of life. Raised on Long Island, New York, she earned her undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University before moving to the Midwest to complete medical school at Marian University in Indianapolis. She went on to complete her residency training with Michigan State University at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital, where she gained advanced expertise in robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery. Dr. Yannetti is passionate about partnering with patients to offer complete healthcare services, ranging from general and high-risk obstetrical management to minimally invasive procedures. Outside of her clinical practice, she enjoys running competitive races, reading, and cherishing time with her husband, newborn daughter, and their two pit bulls.

Jaime Stroud
Director of Operations, MBA Candidate
Jaime serves as Director of Operations at Tree of Life Family Birth Center, offering
strong leadership, administrative excellence, and heartfelt devotion to client care. A
military veteran with 12 years of Air Force and Air National Guard service, her
background spans financial administration, operational strategy, and team guidance.
She is currently pursuing an MBA through the University of Louisville. Jaime is married
with three children and, outside of work, enjoys camping, hiking, and homesteading with
her family.

Kayla Smith
Assistant Administrative Director, BSN, RN
Kayla serves as the Assistant Administrative Director and RN Birthing Assistant at Tree of Life Family Birth Center, bringing over seven years of dedicated clinical and administrative leadership. Raised by a midwife with 29 years of practice and a military veteran herself, Kayla’s deep roots in birth work and family advocacy shape her compassionate, culturally empathetic approach to care. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Galen College of Nursing, she has served across administrative operations, financial advocacy, and bedside nursing. She is especially passionate about maternal-child health, military family care, and guiding families through health insurance coverage to ensure out-of-hospital birth options remain accessible and transparent. Outside of her work at the birth center, Kayla enjoys traveling and creating warm memories with her husband and two daughters.

Diana Evans
Clinical Assistant, LPN
Diana Evans brings 38 years of nursing experience and a steady, compassionate presence to the Tree of Life Family Birth Center team. A graduate of Ivy Tech in Sellersburg, Indiana, Diana previously supported patients at WomanCare, where she became a trusted right hand to the midwives and an important source of encouragement for families. Since joining Tree of Life in 2021, she has served as a Clinical Assistant, helping with births and supporting the many important steps that lead up to each family’s special day. Diana is deeply committed to providing calm, attentive care that helps families feel welcomed and supported. Away from the birth center, she enjoys camping, fishing, and cuddling with her beloved fur baby, Tillie.
